Festive Block Printing

Join us for the unique opportunity of a creative and festive workshop led by Marea Brown of Art of Jaipur. An experienced artisan and teacher, Marea is known for her warmth, creativity, and deep knowledge of traditional Indian block printing. This inspiring session offers a wonderful opportunity to discover this centuries-old craft and create your own beautiful hand-printed pieces—perfect as thoughtful Christmas gifts or as unique additions to your home.

The day begins with an introduction and demonstration of the process, including how to work with carved wooden blocks, apply natural pigments, and build up designs through layering and alignment. You will then have the chance to practise the technique yourself on sample fabric before creating your own finished pieces to take home. Many participants choose to print items such as a tea towel, tote bag, cushion cover, or scarf. All materials, including printing blocks, fabrics, and dyes, will be provided.

This workshop is open to everyone, from complete beginners to those with some creative experience. The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive, with plenty of guidance and time to experiment. Please wear comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting a little colour on, or bring an apron if you prefer. You are also welcome to bring your own piece of plain cotton fabric if there is something special you would like to print.

Cost: £59.50
